Updating Website: Changing Colour

As I have decided to change the colour of the website to blue I have to change the colour on each page.

This is an screen shot showing the process of this.

Updating Website: Blue or Pink?

I am torn between two different colours for my pop music website so I decided to ask my target audience using the social networking website Facebook to find out their opinion. Here are the responses:

Overall, the audience feedback mentioned that they felt that pink was the best colour for the website, so I have decided to follow this opinion.

Group Reflection on Our Music Video

Throughout this process we as a group have learnt a lot about the creation of music videos and the conventions of these videos. This is a discussion of what we would have done differently within the creation and filming of the music video if we could start again.

Updating Website: Moving Tour Dates

I was told by my teacher that having the tour dates and the music video for Torn on the same page did not work. So I decided to move these dates to the other page 'Latest News'. I feel that this is less confusing and makes more sense to be together.

Updating Website: Accessibility on Phone

On Wix, the website I am using to create my pop music website for Natalie Imbruglia, there is an option that allows you to change the website in order for use on smart phones.

I have decided that I wish my website to be accessible on mobile phones, as this technology is regularly used by my target audience and I feel that this will be more engaging and encourge my target audience to use the website.

Updating Website: Personalising

These are some screen shots taken from the news page of my website (the first version on top). I was told that the website was too impersonal to the target audience and sounded too buisness like. I therefore decided to change this within the whole of my website especially on the events page and the gallery.

On the caption of this image I have decided to show that this is from Natalie Imbruglia's Twitter account.

Critique of my Digipak by a Friend

This is a critique of my digipak by a friend Rebecca. She has given details where I could have improved in the creation of my digipak.

I understand this critique, however I feel that my digipak fits into the pop music genre which it is meant to emulate. Therefore I am happy with the product.

Progression of Website

Due to criticism that my website did not need the gallery or the music video at the bottom of the home page I have decided to remove these and place them else where within the website.

Updating Website?

As I had a grey background the pages of my website looked quite boring and the tone felt more like a rock music genre than pop; this did match earlier versions of my digipak. However, as I have recently updated the look of my digipak I feel that the website should be altered too so as to correspond with both the music video and the digipak.

I have also been given some criticism that the home page of my website needs updating to leave only the banner as this is what most pop music websites use.

Further Drafts of my Digipak

With this version of my digipak I decided to use the other page with just a hint of the sparkles. However, I do feel that they just do not work on the digipak so I have decided to change this.

Digipak: Editing the Front Page

I decided to create a different image of Hannah using two existing photos which I liked different elements of.

The Image of Hannah:

I liked this image of Hannah, especially with the makeup and hair down. I also liked the fact that it was a close up of her, however I didn't like the background as I felt that it looked unprofessional with the houses in the background of the shot.

I liked the background of this image with the vibrant colour of the flowers in the background, I also felt this colour complemented the other colours that I was using within my CD so I decided to take this element to create a new photo.

I used the magnetic lasso tool to cut out Hannah from her surrounding in the first picture.

I also changed the colour in the background of the second picture so it gained a washed out look in order to make Hannah the central focus:

Drafting Process of Digipak

This is another draft of my digipak using the updated photo of Hannah. I feel that this fits the pop music genre, however it contrasts too much with the other images within the digipak so I will update these too.

I have also recieved criticism that the image of Hannah looking down does not look right for the pop music genre as she is not looking at the camera, I feel that this criticism is true, but I still want to use this image so I have decided to use this on the backpage of the digipak.

Changing Photo Settings

This is a screen shot of the image that I have decided to use within my digipak. I have edited this image through cutting Hannah away from the background and then changing the tint of the photo to slightly more pink.

By doing this I think that the digipak will show the conventions of the pop music genre, as this technique is seen on other pop music digipak's including Pixie Lott's where she has image tinted into a purple colour.

Another Draft of my Digipak

Within this updation of the digipak I have decided to change the front covers image of Natalie. However, I still feel that the background colour of the image needs to be changed in order to show the pop music genre. I also feel that the picture needs to have a close up of the artist, like used on many different album covers.

Changing the Font

I have decided to change the font of the different texts on my digipak. I have chosen to do this as I have received criticism that the fonts do not fit into the pop music genre.

The font I have decided to use on some of my digipak is similar to that on Katy Perry's Albums.

This shows the change I have created to the other page on my digipak. I added the sparkles to try and emulate the pop music genre and was used on Ellie Goulding's album lights.

Improving Digipak: CD Page

Digipak Updating: CD

gif maker at gickr.com

With the earlier version of the image I had Hannah's face and neck in the centre, however I did not like this as when the CD would be taken out part of her head would be missing from the CD.

I rectified this through moving the image slightly to the right so that I could see Hannah's face on the part of the CD.

New Photoshoot: Images I Have Chosen

I have chosen to use this image as it uses an interesting pose; looking away from the camera than the conventional artist pose looking at the camera.

I also feel that this is better than the images that I have used already on my digipak due to the hair, which is down and presents an informal tone. Within this it also would follow the conventions of the pop music genre.
I have also chosen to use this image on my digipak for the other page.

I feel that this image looks better than the one that I have used on the other page of my digipak and follows the conventions better.

Combination of Website and Digipak First Versions

This is the combination of my digipak and my website. Overall, I feel that they both work well through the use of dark colours and variations of blue and purple. They both look of the same genre and use similar images. Therefore, I feel both work well together.

Website Draft

This is a screenshot of the front page of my website for Natalie Imbruglia.

I have changed the background colour from a white pattern to a black colour to make it look professional and emulate other pop music websites such as Lily Allens web page.

Digipak: Other Page Changes Explained

The first image that I created for this page (see left) on my digipak seemed quite basic and I created the quote myself. The mise-en-scene in the background of this image can be seen as quite unappealing to an audience and I also wanted to draw more attention to the models face. Therefore I decided to use a flashlight effect on the image to draw attention to the face and add more light to that area. I believe that this is effective and would draw my target audience.

Printscreen of the flashlight effect creation in photoshop.

I did add another effect to this photo. However, I did not think that this added to the effectiveness of the product and have decided not to use this within my digipak.

Drafts for Website

This shows the front page of my website. It includes a lot on the front page at the moment, which can be changed and added onto different pages of the website, so as not to discourage the audience. I believe the banner is successful and is carried throughout the website.

However, I feel that the background to my website looks basic and could look professional if I changed the background colour to black.

Digipak Image

This is an image of antoher draft of my digipak. I am happy with the overall layout of the images, especially the back page, however, there are things I feel I can change. Such on the CD there seems to be an imbalance where the 'Natalie Imbruglia' name is written, it seems to have most of the name to one side instead of balanced between the both.

There also seems to be little on the page with the 'quote' from Natalie Imbruglia, so I will try and change this.

Digipak: CD Page Changes Explained

The first attempt of creating the CD page for my digipak (above left) I believe looked unprofessional. I created that through using the template and cutting it away from that to use on this page. However, I felt that this did not look like a CD space and looked too messy, when trying to make the CD look different from the background and creating a semi-transparent look against the background.
Therefore I attempted a second CD page, this I believe looks a bit more professional and can clearly see that this is a page for a CD to be. I have looked at several CD's from Pop Artists and liked the use of the CD's shape to present and show the words on the CD therefore I tried to incorporate this into the creation of the CD.

Another Post of Digipak

This is a current image of my digipak. This is one of the first drafts including all different elements within it, including the CD page and the other page. I feel like this looks a bit more effective. However, I do think that I can change some of the details on these images and use more advanced photoshop skills.

Digipak Creation Process

This is an image of my digipak still being created. I have added a picture onto the back of the CD of the main artist, I have also used an effect. The main artist, in the foreground, is in full colour, however the background is black and white. I still feel like this page is good, but can be made to look more effective through adding record labels and other logo's onto the back.

Creating Digipak

This is the current of my digipak, I have added a background to my back page and added an effect to make it black and white, however I feel that the back page needs a picture of the artist like other POP CD's do.

Digipak Authenticity

I have used these logo and images below for use on my digipak so as to give it an authenic look so it looks like a CD.

I do not own these images.
